Forest Concrete House

January 11, 2011 Stylish Houses

The team at BAK Architects have completed another South American concrete stunner.  The JD House by BAK Architects is located in Mar Azul, Argentina, not far from another BAK-designed concrete home we featured earlier in April.  These concrete designs are a perfect fit for the coastal Mar Azul forest, as the soft, sandy, pine-needled landscape makes for a subtle contrast to the stone-colored concrete.  Inside, the home is spacious, airy and angular, with a tiered layout that rises to create varied living spaces.  Like BAK’s other homes, the JD House was constructed to preserve the nature around it.  The trees on this home’s plot remain intact, several of which extend directly through the structure of the JD House.  The result is an immersion into Mar Azur’s stunning nature that would be far out of reach for a traditionally designed and constructed home. House Lefevre

December 17, 2010 Stylish Houses

Architecture studio Longhi Architects has designed a house called Lefevre. It is located at the coastline in Peru, in city of Punta Misterio situated 177km away from the capital Lima. The Punta Misterio region is known for its desert. The parcel has a great view at the Pacific ocean contrasting with the arid desert. One of the challenges was to create a design that will harmonize with the surroundings. It seems that they have fulfilled this demand very well. They have created a housing formed by geometric shapes stacked on each other looking like they are going to fall from the reef. Stacking of shapes created an extra space on the roofs that was used to build unique sand gardens visually extending the desert. Swimming pools reconnect the house with the ocean. Read More
