  1. We live in Asheville, and we strongly encourage every tourist to take a tour, despite the cost. The fountains/water feature on the left are no longer there, thus this must be an earlier photo.

  2. The Biltmore Estate is without a doubt one of my favorite sites in the world. The home is enormous, and you could easily become disoriented if it weren’t lined out in a path. One of the most beautiful spots in the country, at least in this section of it, and a must-see for everyone who has never there.

  3. I recall going many years ago, and the literature describing the size of the mansion in acres rather than square footage. I believe the interior space is approximately 4 acres, or 172,000 square feet.

  4. Every time we visit Asheville, we make a point of visiting the Biltmore Estate, which is wonderful both architecturally and technologically, and has an elevator, an indoor pool, and a bowling alley, which I find incredible given that it was built around the turn of the century.
